RECAP: Summer I Leadership Lab Retreat

23 July 2023 (Davenport, FL) | As part of the recent restructuring of its signature Global Youth Leadership Fellowship from a ten to 14-month program, Nyah Project kicked off the 2023 cohort’s fellowship experience with a new Summer I Leadership Lab Retreat in Davenport, FL.

The 2023 Nyah Fellows journeyed to central Florida where they delved into their personal stories and leadership journeys, as well as structured and unstructured cohort bonding experiences such as family-style meals, game time, and journaling, during the 3 day intensive retreat.

Leadership Lab topics included: Identity, Lived Experiences, Core Values, and Super Powers.

The activities during the retreat allowed the cohort to start developing stronger bonds prior to completing the international component of their fellowship to Morocco in July 2024. In addition, completing the retreat leadership lab activities during Summer I allows more time for in-country masterclasses with local leaders and cultural excursions during Summer II of the fellowship experience.

The retreat was led by Nyah Project staff; founder + lead facilitator Leigh-Ann Buchanan; co-facilitator and Nyah Project advisor Ryan Hall; and several peer facilitators (Ashley Adirika, Tasfia Howlader, Adrian Oyola, & Ty Stebenne); as well as operational support from aīre ventures.
